Button Bookmarks!

These were a snap to make.  Cut a piece of felt to attach to the back, then hot glue a variety of buttons to the jumbo paper clips for a simple, cute book mark!
I made these as homework reminders, for the ladies in my Bible study group :)

p.s. Sorry about the big shadow across the picture.  It was 2am and I was too tired/lazy to re-take the picture !!!

Carrot Patch!

In an effort to add to my Easter decor, I fashioned a few carrots out of some orange and green fabric.  I think the dark orange ones look almost edible!  Happy Spring!

Fabric Flowers!

First day of spring and the weather report called for SNOW!  I opted to create my own flower garden indoors.

Begin by cutting a circle (mine is 3").  The size of the petals will be determined by the size circle chosen.  Bigger circles mean bigger petals and so forth.  Once you have your initial circle cut, and are pleased with the size, cut 4 more.  This will give you 5 circles, enough for one flower.  If you want a flower garden, I suggest you begin cutting zillions of circles.

Fold the circle in half!

Then fold it in half once more, until it looks like the picture on the right.

Using a heavy weight thread (I used hand quilting thread), begin stitching  through the folded circle.

Once you've finished stitching the first petal, cinch it down on the thread so it will scrunch together.  Repeat with the following 4 circles.  Once you get all 5 petals stitched together, close the flower by sewing the first and last petal together.

The tinier the stitch, the tighter the petals will be.  Once completed, the flower has a tiny hole in the middle.   Camouflage this with buttons or other accessories.  Then decide how to use them.......embellish clothing, bags and hair clips, stitch them together into a banner, or assemble them in a circle for a spring wreath.  The possibilities are endless, although I'm probably just going to toss mine in a bowl and display them in the dining room :)
