Another Autumn-ism

Tonight, while ironing church clothes for Sunday, Autumn observed that I'd already taken off my wedding ring for the night (I don't sleep with it on because I tend to dream I'm losing it and I take it off and it gets "lost" in the sheets).  She asked, "Mom, if you don't have on your ring, does that mean you're not married?"  To which I answered, "No, it doesn't mean that at all."  And Autumn replied, "Well, if you go to a store and don't have your ring on people will WANT to marry you." This made me laugh out loud.  It's funny the way a child's mind works and her mind definitely works overtime.  I guess the apple never falls far from the tree.

It is funny how a child's mind works because just this very day we were teasing Mark at the store. He grabbed my hand as we were leaving and I said to his Dad, "Do you think we can take him home?" We conversed back and forth about how much would he eat, how about potty training, etc. (all in jest of course). Then we asked Mark, "Do you want to go home with us?" He didn't even bat an eyelash, he just looked right up at us and said, "Do you have any legos at your house?"

Comforting to know he'd go home with anybody who had just the right toys!!! What a funny guy. I'm still laughing about the time he came to my house with his stuffed animal baby chick and said, "this is my chick. Sit here chick." What a crack up he us!

How flattering that she automatically assumed that everyone would jump on the chance to marry you! Isn't it so great to know that when we think the whole world is against us that our children still think we are wonderful? I love it when Josie tells me,"Mom, you are so sweet. I'm gonna buy you a surprise!" Hasn't happened yet but isn't it the thought that counts? :)
