The Barn

So, my husband woke up this morning at 7am (that's really sleeping in for him) and masked off the windows and got busy spraying the house with 'barn red' paint and it looks great (at least I think it does). On a side note here, I was telling my sister how I wasn't sure about the red/white combination because I didn't want it to look like a barn. So she said, "well, your last house was the latte stand, so this can be the barn." I decided I actually like it, so, behold "The Barn". This picture is the front of the house and while we still have to paint the trim (white) and get the shutters on (they'll be black), I just can't get over how much it improved the overall look of the house! Also, when we get the back deck put together we'll snap a few pictures of the back of the house. For those of you who have seen it, you'll probably agree it makes a huge difference. If you notice in the mustard-colored 'before' picture, we've done a lot of additional work like removing sloping rain gutters, tearing out rotted wrought iron, and removing that hideous carpet from the stairs. Whoever came up with the idea to put carpet outdoors should have their head examined!
Tomorrow he's painting the garage, and then we'll be able to start on the trim work. I can't wait for the whole thing to be finished, complete with my American flag and new house numbers. It's going to look soooo country. See, I told you he was amazing!

I love anything "barn like!" Your house look great...love the color.

I tought about doing our house in a barn red, but since it is BARN SHAPED I thought it would be too cheesy. So we went with a golden yellow. If I could just get my trim painted a nice crisp white....
